Good morning! – thank you very much for clicking on this link,
My name is Molly and I am a 17 year old aspiring actress from North Dorset in the South West of England.
Having studied at Blandford School, I am currently taking my final A-Levels in Theatre, Performing Arts and Sociology.
Since November of last year I have been traveling to London, auditioning for top acting schools specializing in musical theatre, and in December I was lucky enough to be offered a place at Laine Theater Arts, my dream school, to study musical theater in 3 years. Classes.
At the age of 3 I started my dance with ballet lessons at the Footlight Performance Academy and once at Blandford School I took part in musicals where I found my home on stage in beginning my journey into musical theatre. Falling in love with the stage through singing, dancing and acting, I realized my passion for the stage in all three disciplines. Taking voice lessons, training regularly in other dance styles whilst studying acting and theater at GCSE and A-Level gave me the passion, inspiration and drive to get on stage and to become what is called a triple threat.
I love being on stage and have already had some amazing times participating in our school productions with ensemble roles in Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods and Evita and lead roles in Oliver like The Artful Dodger, Eponine in Les Misérables, Elphaba in Wicked and more recently Mimi in Rent. On stage, I like to find a connection between me and the character, fully immerse myself in the role to communicate a story through my performance; I think it’s one of the most amazing ways to express yourself. I have always loved learning new skills to develop my abilities and attending workshops with industry professionals is so exciting and inspiring. Even during lockdown, I stayed connected via zoom, which allowed me to attend virtual lessons with my performance school while taking workshops with many professionals, including several West End stars, pushing my passion to new heights. My parents imaginatively converted our conservatory at home into a space to train in, allowing me to continue dancing and singing for hours day after day (sorry neighbours!!!) ensuring that I continued my training while still being able to do what I love.
Laine Theater Arts receives thousands of applications every year, not just from the UK, but from around the world. Selecting around 80 students, I feel very humbled to think that they have seen something in me and think that I deserve a place at such a prestigious college. Having dreamed of this moment for as long as I can remember, I received nothing but love and support from my amazing family to pursue my ambition to be a West End performer and leading lady. However, unfortunately the performing arts is a very underfunded sector and as Laine is an independent school there is no access to student loans and I have not been able to secure any government funding or support financial through a DADA. So we can’t fund this alone, so I started writing to as many companies as possible that offer scholarships and grants – although there is no guarantee that my applications will be accepted or that they would be able to offer enough to cover all costs.
The annual fee for each of the 3 years is over £18,000 plus accommodation and the long training schedule will limit the hours I can work part-time throughout the course. For this reason, my very supportive family and I are desperately looking for ways to fund my entry into drama school in September. In our attempts to garner support, I’ve created this page as a donation platform to help make this long-fought dream a reality.
It would mean more than anything if you could donate – whatever amount you can donate helps me step up to take my place on this course and for that I am so very grateful! Even just sharing this page would mean so much and be immensely appreciated.
If you want to follow my journey and my progress, I will regularly update this page as well as my Instagram which is @mollyanncarterx. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. The love, luck and support I have received so far is extremely kind.
