1912 by Richard Le Gallienne Orestes stars Edyth Olive and Rathmel Wilson. He plays at the Boudoir Theater in London.

1922 JM Barrieit is Dear Brutus played 258 performances in a revival at Wyndham’s Theater in London. Gerald Du Maurier product.

1963 Actor-director Monty Woolley dies in Albany, New York. His most memorable performance was that of Sheridan Whiteside—The man who came to dinner. He was 74 years old.

1970 Elinor Jones adapts an anthology of memoirs by Colette. Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt provide the songs and Zoe Caldwell is the French lady of letters for 101 performances at the Ellen Stewart Theatre.

1990 Stephane Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens‘ musical Once on this islandaccording to the novel My love, my love by Rosa Guy, begins Off-Broadway performances at Playwrights Horizons. The show transfers to the Broadway Booth Theater on October 18, 1990, where he organized 469 performances.

1999 Pierre Parnell adapts John Irving’s novel into Cider House Rules: Here in St. Cloudsthe first part of a two-part play that opens at Off-Broadway’s Atlantic Theater Company. Tom Hulce and Jane Jones co-direct the cast which includes Colm MeaneyRoss Gibby and Josh Hamilton.

2003 Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Dennehy star in a Broadway revival of Eugene O’Neillit is Long day trip into night at the Plymouth Theatre. Both Redgrave and Dennehy won Tony Awards for their performances, and the production won Best Revival of a Play.

Its stay is short-lived, however: it also closes tonight, after playing 17 previews and just one performance.

2013 The world premiere of Nikolai and the others, Richard NelsonThe play that imagines a weekend shared by Russian artists George Balanchine, Igor Stravinsky, Nikolai Nabokov, and many others, opens Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theaterof the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Directed by David Cromerthe cast includes Michel Cerveris, John Glover, Alvin Epstein, Stephen Kukenand Blair Brown.
