Loyola University New Orleans’ Department of Theater and Dance Arts presents the New Orleans premiere of the hit musical Head Over Heels.
Jukebox musical adaptation of Sir Philip Sidney’s Arcadia, The Countess of Pembroke, Head Over Heels incorporates the songs of cultural phenomenon and groundbreaking girl band The Go-Go’s into a thought-provoking tribute to the fluid journey of life’s love and self-discovery. Blending the aesthetics of Elizabethan England, 1980s New Wave and contemporary queer culture, as well as disregarding the restrictive and typecast characters and cast, this musical aims to celebrate beauty at the both the traditional and the unconventional in theater and in life.
Head Over Heels will be directed by Hardy Weaver. Hardy has spent over a decade performing on Broadway and across the country in national and regional theater tours. Four years ago, he quit his job on Broadway and went to live in the Patagonian wilderness, learning to be self-sufficient in nature. He then went to live and study in the foothills of the Himalayas, where he learned to teach Vedic meditation. He now resides in New Orleans and travels the country teaching people how to be less stressed. Having joined the Loyola team, it was her real pleasure to merge her old passion for theater with her new passion for self-care.
Head Over Heels will take place at the Marquette Theater at Loyola University, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, on March 31, April 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9 at 7:30 p.m.
