ARTfactory announces new director of theater arts

Anne Ridgway has led the theater arts programming at the ARTfactory for over 30 years and announced her well-deserved retirement on June 15, 2021. Anne has developed the programming from a small theatrical experience to a well-programmed performance. theatrical performance of the ARTfactory today. . The ARTfactory offers dramatic arts and technical theater training courses and workshops, as well as two award-winning theater companies: Pied Piper Theater for students and Rooftop Productions for community actors. His contribution to the ARTfactory has made the community a better place to live and work.

Anne’s successor is Kimberly Kemp, the new director of theater arts. Ms. Kemp is an award-winning educator, director and actress from Fredericksburg. She has been a part of the surrounding DMV theater community for many years. Kimberly is the founder and former executive director of Stage Door Productions, Inc. where she worked for 17 years in addition to her day job as a theater educator at Massaponax High School. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Diploma in Theater Education and completed her Masters in Arts Management at George Mason University in 2014.

As a theater arts educator in Spotsylvania County, Kimberly students have been recognized locally, regionally, and nationally in the fields of acting, stand-up, film, television, directing, public speaking and technical theater arts. Many of his students went on to work professionally in the arts. Kimberly has witnessed how the power of theater inspires, influences and educates. She is thrilled to continue to overcome obstacles in the arts at the ARTfactory.

ARTfactory’s theatrical lineup returns to the theater this summer with an outdoor performance of Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. at Windy Knoll Farm on August 14, followed by Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. on October 16 and 17 at Metz Middle School in Manassas. Rooftop Productions will be back on stage October 22-31 with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
